One of the very first questions I ask every couple is, “What matters most?” Not what Pinterest says you should prioritize or what everyone else is spending their budget on—what are the few things that would make you look back at your wedding day and say, “Yep. That was exactly us.”

Negien and Adam didn’t hesitate.

Their list was simple: incredible florals (structural, wild, fit for fall), a beautiful sofreh that honored Persian tradition while feeling uniquely them, and an unforgettable cake. (Adam, especially, was very passionate about the cake.)

From that moment on, every planning decision became easy because we knew exactly what we were building toward.

Set against the vineyards at Carmel Valley Ranch, guests were welcomed to a ceremony centered around a custom sofreh by Aarte Events. Rather than recreating tradition exactly as it had always been done, Negien and Adam wanted something that reflected their story, their families, and the life they were creating together. The ceremony began with a traditional Iranian ceremony before seamlessly transitioning into a Jewish/Western inspired ceremony, creating a celebration that honored both cultures in a way that felt completely authentic.

And then there were the flowers. I love florals that feel like art, and Linzy from Form & Flower absolutely delivered. The ceremony was overflowing with lush, sculptural arrangements that somehow felt both romantic and effortless against the Carmel Valley vineyards. They were dramatic in the best possible way without ever overshadowing what was happening at the center of it all.

Cocktail hour brought a fun surprise for the guests when the resident donkeys from Carmel Valley Ranch came over to say hello. Guests immediately abandoned their cocktails for photo opportunities, and honestly, I don’t blame them. They were ADORABLE.

The reception carried the same feeling into dinner with soft ivories, layered greenery, glowing candlelight, and rich fall florals creating a space that felt warm, elegant, and inviting. It was proof that you don’t have to choose between timeless and personal—you can absolutely have both.

Then came the moment Adam had been waiting for. Edith Meyer created two incredible cakes that somehow managed to live up to the hype. They weren’t just beautiful—they were genuinely delicious. Guests went back for seconds, and some people who shall remain nameless (lol) may have had somewhere in the ballpark of 6 slices before requesting as many leftovers as possible.

As if no one wanted the day to end, the celebration continued with an afterparty in one of the resort suites. Shoes came off, music turned up, drinks kept flowing, and everyone settled into that magical part of the night where the timeline disappears and you’re simply enjoying being surrounded by the people you love.

Looking back, what I love most about this wedding is how intentional every decision felt. Negien and Adam didn’t try to make every single detail the star of the show. They knew exactly what they cared about, trusted those priorities, and gave them room to shine.
