Every once in a while, you get asked a question that’s almost dangerous.

“If you could create anything you wanted… what would you build?”

When I was given the opportunity to co-lead WIPA San Francisco’s first networking and education event of the year, that was essentially the assignment. There wasn’t a strict theme, a corporate brand guide, or a long list of creative limitations. Just one goal: create an unforgettable evening for some of the Bay Area’s best wedding professionals.

The catch? There wasn’t a production budget.

Which, in some ways, made it even more exciting.

Instead of hiring vendors, we had to inspire them. We asked some of the most talented creatives in the industry to donate their time, talent, and artistry in exchange for the opportunity to showcase what they do best in front of fellow event professionals. It’s a huge ask, and the fact that so many incredible people immediately said yes still means the world to me.

If you know me, you know exactly where the inspiration started.

I just wanted to dance with my favorite people.

So the concept became Electric Eden—what happens when you rave in a garden.

Neon mixed with lush greenery. Disco balls tucked into overflowing florals. A space that felt elegant enough for a luxury event but energetic enough that no one wanted to stay in their seat.

And somehow, this team made it even better than the version I had imagined.

One of the first calls had to be Owl Vision.

During our walkthrough, I remember looking at their team and saying, “Can you just… absolutely eff it up with lighting and vibes?” Without missing a beat, they knew exactly what I meant. They transformed the Ritz-Carlton into something completely unexpected with glowing LED walls, an incredible dance floor, oversized illuminated orbs, a dramatic neon entrance, and more disco balls than I could have dreamed of. Walking into the room felt like stepping into another world and proved that lighting isn’t just decoration – it’s atmosphere.

Of course, no garden rave is complete without a little spectacle.

Circosphere brought exactly that. Guests were welcomed into dinner by stunning performers dressed in floral- and disco-inspired costumes who looked like they had stepped straight out of Electric Eden itself. Then, just when everyone thought they’d seen it all, they returned for the dance party transformed into glowing LED disco performers, weaving through the crowd and pulling everyone onto the dance floor. They weren’t just entertainment – they became part of the experience, making the entire evening feel immersive from the moment guests arrived until the very last song.

Once the room looked the part, we needed it to feel the part.

DJ Nick from Sinclair Sound kept the energy exactly where I wanted it all night long, blending dance music, crowd favorites, and- because he’s one of my favorite humans – sneaking in a few songs that were absolutely included just for me. Sorry to everyone else… but not really. At the same time, Snap Fiesta’s glam photo booth kept a steady line all evening long, giving everyone their own red carpet moment with photos worthy of the Oscars.

The incredible team at Green Petal Design created florals that felt like they had naturally grown around the dance floor, softening the neon with layers of texture and movement while somehow making disco balls feel perfectly at home in a garden.

Guests kicked off cocktail hour with a stop at the glitter bar created by Status Salon because if you’re attending a garden rave, you should absolutely leave a little sparklier than you arrived. The energy only kept building from there. Rose Crelli filled the room with the most incredible electric violin performance, creating the perfect soundtrack as guests explored the space, caught up with industry friends, and took in every glowing detail.

Everywhere you looked there was another thoughtful detail. Theoni Collection, Hensley Event Resources, and BBJ La Tavola layered in colorful linens, draping, furnishings, tabletop pieces, and décor that made every corner feel intentional. Aarte Events, Blush Type, and Velvet & Veil Paperie tied everything together with signage and stationery that perfectly balanced modern edge with whimsical elegance.

The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco was the perfect host, treating everyone to an incredible dinner before Pretty Please Bakeshop sent guests home on the sweetest possible note with desserts that disappeared almost as quickly as they were served.

And because every great event deserves to be remembered, Elizabeth Pishal Photography, Nice Shot Films, and Vow by Vow captured every glowing detail, every conversation, every dance move, and every moment that made the evening feel so special.

The education portion of the evening was just as inspiring.

DJ Malike of Curate Entertainment joined us from the East Coast to share what it really takes to dream bigger, build intentionally, and create systems that support the kind of business—and life—you actually want. It was exactly the conversation our industry needed and the perfect complement to an evening built around creativity.

But my favorite part of the night wasn’t the design.

Or the glitter.

Or even the dance floor.

It was what all of those things made possible.

Together, we raised funds to support the incredible work being done by Oasis and their commitment to queer arts and community. Getting to celebrate creativity while giving back to an organization that champions self-expression felt like the perfect ending to a night built around joy.

Electric Eden was never just about creating a beautiful event. It was about proving what can happen when an entire community of creatives says yes to a bold idea. And if there’s one thing I took away from the night, it’s this: The best events don’t happen because one person has a vision. They happen because dozens of incredibly talented people decide to build something extraordinary together.

To every vendor, sponsor, volunteer, WIPA member, and guest who helped turn a wild little idea called “a rave in a garden” into reality – thank you. You made magic.
