The ceremony took place at Carmel Mission Basilica in Carmel-by-the-Sea, one of California’s most treasured and historic landmarks. Founded in 1771 by Father Junípero Serra, the mission is one of the most beautifully preserved of the state’s original missions and remains a cornerstone of California history. With its stone façade, bell tower, and peaceful courtyard, a Carmel Mission wedding ceremony carries an unmistakable sense of reverence and old-world charm. For G + C, it was a breathtaking and meaningful place to begin their marriage.
From there, guests made their way to Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley, one of the most sought-after luxury wedding venues in Monterey County. Known for its vineyard views, refined interiors, and quintessential California elegance, it provided the perfect backdrop for a celebration that was both elevated and effortlessly cool.
The design leaned into a classic black-and-white palette, creating a timeless foundation that allowed the experience to truly shine. Crisp florals and clean details kept everything feeling polished and intentional.
Cocktail hour was undeniably one of the highlights of this Bernardus Lodge wedding. G + C surprised guests with custom mini golf windmills, each topped with flags representing meaningful aspects of their relationship – including one of their sweet pup, Daisy! Paired with a giant round bar that naturally became the gathering hub, the entire scene felt interactive, personal, and completely unforgettable.
As the sun dipped over Carmel Valley, the reception space transformed with dynamic, layered lighting that brought depth and movement to the black-and-white design. Once the dance floor opened, the celebration kicked into high gear. Custom trucker hats made their debut, adding a playful, personal touch that guests proudly wore as the party carried on late into the night.
